I recently asked Chat GPT what the most common question being asked is across all genders. The answer? Mental health. More specifically, how to deal with anxiety and stress.
I’m right there with you. I am far from perfect. Anxiety and depression still show up in my life uninvited, and I have to fight back. Because of my epilepsy and neurological migraines, standard medications aren't an option for me. They’d do more harm than good. While I fully believe meds have a vital place for most people with chemical imbalances, I personally had to find a different toolkit.
What I have found works for me is a very specific morning practice that takes waking up daily with gratitude. Whether you are waking up with a gorgeous ocean view or you are couch surfing on a friends futon, there is always something to be grateful for. How you start your day matters!
But let’s be honest: affirmations can feel outdated. I used to try repeating them, but they never "sank in." I remember sitting in group therapy, tasked with reading a card that said, "I am special." I couldn’t even say it. I just sat there and cried. The words felt vague and empty.
Then I found EFT Tapping.
Unlike stagnant affirmations, the physical act of tapping lowers your cortisol, slashes stress, and pulls you out of "fight or flight" mode. It’s not a magic wand, but it forces you into the present moment. It helps you breathe.
The best part? Once your nervous system actually feels safe, those affirmations you've been trying to believe finally start to stick.
I’ve used tapping for everything from anxiety to migraines. I’m linking one of my favorite guided videos below. Give it a shot! I'd love to hear if it shifts things for you like it did for me.
